Hi All!
Welcome back to another year of great literature at the Newburyport Literary Festival! I will be posting info here as well as on the landing page, so check it out and give us a post!
Hi everyone: As someone fairly new to Newburyport I got involved with the town literary festival in 2008 and was thrilled with the great assortment of poets, writers and illustrators who came last year. Our beautiful town was hopping with people rushing from one free event to another, and the only complaint I remember hearing was that there was simply too much to do, that making a choice was nearly impossible.
Our 2009 festival promises to be just as exciting, especially the children’s and young adult portion. We have a YA panel on writing series novels featuring the fantastic Amelia Atwater Rhodes and Tony Abbott; Julia Alvarez will be here talking about the process of writing her latest novel Return to Sender; Mark Karlins will preview his new picture book and Pat Lowrey Collins will give very young children a workshop helping them connect and channel their creative energies. We will have bookmaking for the entire family as well as a sculpting workshop celebrating the work of our 2009 children’s book honoree, David McPhail.
Don’t miss this free day of literary treats, Saturday April 25th 2009. It’s free, it’s fun and it’s in beautiful downtown Newburyport.
David McPhail is a prolific illustrator. He will be signing books at the Newburyport Library, State Street, at 2:30 on Saturday the 25th.
His latest titles, both those he authored and/or illustrated, as well as a number of his “classics” will be for sale at the library along with the authors’ books who are giving programs.
